Hearing Loss Assessment & Solutions
Adult Hearing Assessment
Obtaining a comprehensive hearing evaluation is typically the first step in
determining if a hearing loss is present. We perform a variety of tests to
help determine the amount and type of hearing loss present. Following
evaluation the results are shared with your ENT physician, to help determine
the best way to treat your hearing or balance problem.
On your first visit to Specialty ENT Hospital, your audiologist will
start by asking you questions about your medical and hearing history. This
is called the case history. Next, the audiologist will look into your ears
using a light, called an otoscope, and check for anything in the ear canal
that might affect the test results or require referral to your doctor.
Finally, the audiologist will conduct a test or series of tests to assess:
Whether there is a hearing loss
The cause of the hearing loss (to the extent possible)
The degree and configuration (one or both ears) of hearing loss
The best treatment options
